How should I keep my eyes healthy? Every patient of my opd ask this question. Doctor how should I keep my eye healthy? Is there any tonic or eye drop? Ayurved has definite answer for this. Ayurved emphasizes more on the maintainance of our health which is prime aim of Ayurved. Proper daily regimen Will help you keep eyes healthy. 1)Take a proper sleep. Avoid going to sleep late night & mainly try to avoid afternoon sleep specialy after lunch. 2)After getting up from bed, brush your teeth & afterword sprinkle the cold water on to the closed eyes. It will remove out excess heat from eyes. 3)Avoid hot water bath on head. Hot water is not beneficial for eyes and hair. 4)Apply oil onto the head. Apply oil to soles & massage them properly. This method nourishes the eyes. 5)Apply Anjan(medicated kajal) with proper medical guidance. Anjan makes the eyes healthy. 6)While going outside cover your head properly. Use UV protective goggles. 7)Put on proper footwear.Avoid plastic footwear which are harmful for eyes. 8)Clean your eyes 2-3 times a day with pure water. 9) After coming to home from outside wash you feet properly. This is very beneficial for eye health. 10)Avoid use of mobile and computer mainly during late night or in dark room. 11)If you are using computer take a proper care of eyes to prevent them from getting dry. Now we will turn to proper diet habits which will maintain the health of eyes. According to Ayurved diet which includes all the six tastes viz. sweet, sour, salty, astringent, bitter and pungent should be taken. Don't eat to much fast or slowly. Fruits - mango, amla, guava, dates, pomegranate, grapes, banana. Grains - Wheat, rice, maize. Tubers - Beetroot, radish. Vegetables - Green beans, bringels, cucumber, ladies finger, drumsticks. Pulses - green gram, red & yellow gram, peas. Green leafy vegetables - coriander, fenugreek, spinach. Milk products - Milk, buttermilk, ghee. This way you can maintain the proper health of eyes by selecting wholesome diet.Try to avoid fast-food. It is indirectly harmful to your eyes.
